Description

I grew up in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia, a beautiful landscape, with a rich diversity of plant life and geology, and the highest tides in the world (hence all the references to the tides in my songs). I've lived in a small town near the ocean for the past four years, which has been a marvellous scenery to inspire songwriting.
I have an insatiable passion for music, I love to write songs and share them with people, improvise with other musicians, and teach theory. I especially love seeing what other musicians throw into one of my songs in a jam. I initially had a band with my little brother Liam Potter called "Resisting Gravity", that was really the start of my music career. With my mother helping out with business and bookings, we thrived in the extremely supportive communities of Wolfville, and Saulnierville. As a result of constantly changing members, and my and Liam's inability to work as a team, the band slowly fizzled. I then had the wonderful opportunity to collaborate with two awesome musicians, Andy Kavanagh, and Ben Taylor, in a band we dubbed "Zenigma." It had a short and extremely awesome run at the valleys music scene, but fell apart due to the complications of work schedules and new beginnings in life for Andy. Recently I have begun work with a new band by the name "The Chimney Swifts, " which consists of myself on guitar and violin and Jamie Loughead on bass. We try emphasize vocal harmony, and are collaboratively writing many songs, now numbering over 10. Contact me today for more information or booking.
