Mike has committed himself to working with only companies that provide him with the independence necessary to do what is best for his clients. One of Mike’s biggest concerns about the mortgage environment in Canada is the lack of choice homebuyers have when choosing a mortgage. Most Canadians walk into a bank and simply take whatever the mortgage specialist offers. However, because a bank’s mortgage specialists are employed by the bank, they operate in the banks best interests. Banks of course wish to charge higher rates if possible with terms more favorable to themselves. Mike is pleased that his relationship with Dominion Lending gives him the independence to find favorable rates and terms for his clients. Mike doesn’t work for the lenders, he works for his clients.
Mike is also a financial planner able to assist his clients further regarding insurance (life, mortgage, disability and health) and investments (GICs, mutual & segregated funds). This gives him a wide variety of tools to support his clients with. Mortgages are a huge part of anyone’s financial plan and Mike believes in the wisdom of looking at mortgages in the broader context of a financial plan as a decision regarding the type and term of a mortgage will affect insurance and investments decisions.
