Description
It was on March 6, 1974 that 21 members met in the Old Haight School and decided that they wanted to have a seniors club. So in 1975 they drew up a constitution and registered it with the Societies Branch. In January 1977, with 29 members present, a motion was made to purchase the Freebury Clinic building- the present location. These members worked hard to pay for this building because by December 14, 1977 the building was paid in full. They held the official opening on February 3, 1978.
The Club soon felt they needed more room, so an addition was started on July 11, 1983. This project was completed by September 7, 1983. This addition provided room to have a pool table, a dart board and floor and table shuffleboard.
The Club welcomes visitors and new members anytime, to join or stop in for a friendly cup of coffee. Any person 50 years of age or older is welcome to join. To become a member we have an annual fee of $10.00. Each Monday afternoon from 1:30 on we play Crib. On Wednesday afternoon we start with 6 games of Bingo. Then you are free to play whatever you like- pool, shuffleboard, scrabble, dominoes, cards or just visit. There is always coffee, tea and lunch served.
