Generally most, if not all of the products that have traditionally been used to seal concrete and wood surfaces are environmentally unfriendly top coats that only last a few years, if you’re lucky. The typical sealants used on driveways are usually peeling or wearing off within a year or two. I’ve learned that one of the main reasons for the breakdown of these various top coats is that the concrete or wood surfaces haven’t been properly sealed first before the secondary application is applied. In concrete, the alkali content is constantly being reactivated by moisture and continues to work its way up to the surface. This process is called efflorescence. In wood, the natural alkali content and tannic acids are also reactivated by external elements. So, any secondary top coatings are being applied to an un sealed, un stable surface and therefore, they don’t last. Our products permanently seal, strengthen and protect concrete and wood surfaces by creating an internal impermeable solid membrane.
