Description
My name is Russell Kreye and I am a third generation Stony Plainian. My grandfather, Henry Kreye, and his family were some of the first settlers in Stony Plain. Even today, at 96 years old, my mother, Bertha Kreye, tells stories of when she was a young girl she remembers my grandfather trading with the First Nations people who would arrive on their farm in full headdress riding on horseback. As a boy growing up on that farm I experienced first hand how times have changed from a swede saw, an axe Stony plain firewood for sale and a chopping block to what is used today - an automated wood processor. Gone are the days of hours upon hours of hard, intense physical labor and welcome are these days where a person can pull a lever and the wood is cut and split in a quarter of the time.
Today's technology has allowed me to take on a retirement project of providing the surrounding community with firewood. I love the daily ins and outs of my business and I also love the fact that firewood creates great memories for family and friends. Some of my own fondest memories are from around the campfire, fireplace and stove. Whether we were at home, at the cottage or in a friends backyard, we shared many great laughs and great moments around the fire.
